THE COSMETIC TATTOO STUDIO F.A.Q.

WHAT IS MICROBLADING?
Microblading is a technique using a handheld bladed tool used as a manual method of applying ink into the skin. With Microblading I ‘draw’ on hair strokes following the natural direction of your hair to make filled in, shaped brows. This is done by etching hair like strokes into the skin and then filling the etches in with pigment.

IS MICROBLADING PAINFUL?
Most clients describe the feeling similar to a light "cat scratch". All pain is subjective; so I cannot guarantee a pain free session but I do my best to make you as comfortable as possible and most clients state they feel little to no pain. A topical anesthetic is applied to numb the area. You can expect to have some redness, similar to a light sunburn, as well as slight swelling after the procedure.

WHAT KIND OF PIGMENT DO YOU USE?
I use only the highest quality pigments that contain clean ingredients that are safe for all skin types. The pigments heal true to color. You can be assured these high-quality pigments will heal gorgeously and last longer on your skin.

WHO IS A GREAT CANDIDATE FOR MICROBLADING?
The best candidates are those with skin that is not too oily or sensitive. That includes those with dry skin, normal to combination skin, or normal to oily skin. You must be over the age of 18 to have PMU or any tattoo service done.

WHO IS NOT A CANDIDATE FOR MICROBLADING?
If your skin is thick and oily with large pores, or super thin and sensitive, powder or combo brows may be a better choice.  I will take the time to access your skin and your brows and recommend the best technique for you. Also if you are pregnant or breastfeeding, or have used accutane in the last year, you would not be eligible for microblading.

WHAT DO YOU DO TO ENSURE SAFETY AND CLEANLINESS?
Cleanliness and safety for my clients is my top priority. I take sanitation and sterilization very seriously. Before and after every client the bed, tray, table and chair are wiped down and sanitized with medical-grade disinfectants. I adhere to strict health codes and safety guidelines. During any treatment I wear gloves and a mask at all times with my hair pulled back. Everything on the procedure tray is sterile and disposable and is thrown away after each client.

CAN YOU TOUCH-UP MY BROWS EVEN IF I DIDN'T HAVE THEM DONE BY YOU?
No, you will be considered a new client and will need to schedule a consultation with me to determine if a cover-up, color correction or treatment can be done as well as the cost.

HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE?
The entire process takes about 2-3 hours. That time includes a consult, aftercare discussion, brow mapping and shaping & treatment.

HOW DO I CARE FOR MY BROWS AFTER MY APPOINTMENT?

  • You will be sent home with a healing kit and care card instructions.

  • For the first several hours immediately after your appointment, pat your brows dry every 15 to 30 min to keep any lymph/fluid drainage off.

  • Cleanse your brows for the first time right before you go to bed and apply your first layer of balm.

  • Do not pick, itch or scrub your brows. Let any flaking fall off naturally.

  • Absolutely NO workouts of any kind for 10 days!

  • Absolutely NO MAKEUP for 10 days!

  • Absolutely no sun, sweat or steam (including pools, hot tubs, saunas, steam rooms and hot showers) for 10 days!

HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE TO HEAL?

You can expect your brows to take about 10-14 days to fully heal. After that, you can get back to your normal daily routine!

HOW CAN I MAKE MY BROWS LAST LONGER?

Using sunscreen daily will help prevent fading. If you tan, use products for acne, or those that contain AHA or glycolic acid that thin the skin, you will increase cell turnover and may need a touchup sooner.

HOW OFTEN WILL I NEED A TOUCH-UP?

It all depends on your lifestyle and skin type. I recommend you come back between 12 and 18 months for a touch up to keep your color looking fresh.

WHAT IF I'M NOT HAPPY WITH MY BROWS?

It is my goal to ensure every client is happy with their brows. If you are not happy for any reason, I am willing to help in any way that I can. Slight changes or adjustments can be made depending on the circumstances. Unfortunately, I do not offer refunds for brow services, unless an error was made on my part. I will do everything I can to find a solution and make things better!

HOW CAN I PREPARE FOR MY APPOINTMENT?

  • Avoid caffeine 48 hrs before your appointment

  • Do not work out the day of your appointment

  • Do not drink alcohol within 48 hrs of your appointment

  • Avoid using retina/retinol products near the brow area for 2 weeks before your appointment

  • No botox 2 weeks prior to your appointment
